The course is for experienced GRASS and GIS users from universities, public administrations and enterprises and provides a deeper knowledge to the analysis of remote sensing data (aerial and satellite images) with GRASS GIS and other free software such as GDAL or OSSIM.
Instructor is Otto Dassau. He has been active for many years in the GRASS GIS project and the german FOSSGIS e.V., and used remote sensing in several projects. For more than 10 years he conducts regular training courses and workshops on GRASS, Quantum GIS and other open source GIS applications (see menu references).

Topics of the 2-day training
- Overview of GRASS modules for remote sensing
- Management and processing of remote sensing data
- Creation of orthophotos from aerial photographs
- Analysis capabilities of aerial and satellite imagery
- Analysis capabilities of laser scan data
The topics of this course will be discussed in advance with the participants to deepen the special tasks of remote sensing for GRASS and other open source software such as GDAL or OSSIM to be used later.
Exercise material
For this training, participants receive extensive training data, a practice script and a current, third edition of the GRASS GIS Approach by Neteler/Mitasova to deepen the knowledge imparted by the course. In addition, each participant receives a certificate of participation upon successful completion.
Required skills
Knowledge of GRASS GIS. Optimally, the visit of the GRASS (I) Introduction.

Costs
€ 850 + VAT - (This includes all course materials, beverages and snacks, and lunch. Students, apprentices and unemployed people can participate at reduced rates, if the course is not fully booked.
