The course is for experienced GRASS GIS users from universities, public administrations and private companies and is based on the GRASS GIS introduction course knowledge. Particular focus lies on interoperability with applications such as databases, geo-statistics or map servers.
Instructor is Otto Dassau. He has been active for many years in the GRASS, the QGIS project and the german FOSSGIS e.V.. For more than 10 years he conducts regular training courses and workshops on GRASS, Quantum GIS and other open source GIS applications (see menu references).

Topics of the 2-day training
- Connection and use of external spatial database PostGIS
- Accessibility and visualization of GRASS data in the UMN Mapserver
- Connection and use of external statistical software R
- Introduction to image analysis, pre- and post-processing
- Introduction to terrain analysis including interpolation methods
- Vector network analysis modules
- Writing shell scripts/modules in GRASS
The course is planned individually with the participants and can also be used to start into a current or planned project. Also, other topics may be integrated on demand.
Exercise material
For this training, participants receive extensive training data, a practice script and a current, third edition of the GRASS GIS Approach by Neteler/Mitasova to deepen the knowledge after the course. In addition, each participant receives a certificate of participation upon successful completion.
Required skills
Knowledge in dealing with GRASS GIS. Optimally, the visit of the GRASS (I) Introduction.

Costs
€ 700 + VAT - This includes all course materials, beverages and snacks, and lunch. Students, apprentices and unemployed people can participate at reduced rates, if the course is not fully booked.
Special discount
If you decide to attend the courses GRASS GIS I and II, you pay only 1400 € + VAT instead of 1500 € + VAT and save 100 euros.
