The course is for GIS users and interested people and provides the principles in dealing with the GDAL/OGR Tools. GDAL is a data exchange library, enabling the transformation between raster and vector formats and projections. In addition, GDAL/OGR provides very useful command line tools for data processing. The course shows how to optimally use the program.

Instructor is Otto Dassau. He is current member of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) of the Quantum GIS project and active in the GRASS project and the german FOSSGIS eV. For more than 10 years he conducts regular training courses and workshops on Quantum GIS, GRASS and other open source GIS applications (see menu references).


Topics of the 1-day training

  • Installation and possible applications
  • Presentation of all GDAL/OGR Tools
  • Using GDAL with the command line
  • Working with the GDALTools Plugin in Quantum GIS
  • Writing scripts for large data processing

 

Exercise material

For this training, participants receive extensive training data and an exercise script to be able to deepen the knowledge after the course. In addition, each participant receives a certificate of participation upon successful completion.

Costs

€ 520 + VAT - This includes all course materials, beverages and snacks, and lunch. Students, apprentices and unemployed people can participate at reduced rates, if the course is not fully booked.
