Ready to install RPM packages for OpenSUSE

GBD-consult has been involved in the OpenSUSE Application:Geo repository since 2007. The main focus is on the applications GRASS and QGIS, its dependencies and other frequently used packages such as GDAL, Proj.4, GEOS, PostGIS or R. Overall, our commitment includes more than 40 packages for different versions of openSUSE. The packages have been installed by many users in universities, government agencies and private companies for practical use. If you want to follow our package updates, you can visit this page or subscribe to our  Application:GEO newsfeed.

If you have questions or are interested in professional support for a specific application or would like to support our work financially by a small support contract, please contact info@gbd-consult.de.

GRASS 7 development packages with temporal analysis
Tuesday, 21 February 2012 10:38

Since last year we provide at irregular intervals GRASS 7 packages for OpenSUSE directly from the development trunk. The future GRASS version 7 will bring a number of interesting innovations. Although it is still far away to be stable, we believe that there are already some features that can be used in test projects. A new functionality is the temporal analysis, provided by the t.* modules.

The state of the package has a date that we have integrated in the name: grass7-120222, for example means, the package is based on the development status of 22nd February 2012.

Installation:

The installation is currently done as followed. It is not possible to install the stable version of GRASS 6.4.2 in parallel with the GRASS 7 svn snapshot for now. Furthermore, when installing, the GRASS 6.4.2, GDAL and QGIS-GRASS packages will be uninstalled, too. So you must decide in advance, which GRASS version you want to work with.
