After release candidate 7 was published on August 27, 2010 the GRASS development team now released GRASS GIS 6.4.0 stable on September 3, 2010, coinciding with the FOSS4G conference in Barcelona. The software is available at: http://grass.osgeo.org/download/. GBD-consult contributes since 2006 to the project providing current binary software packages for various versions of the GNU/Linux OS openSUSE via the Application:Geo Repository.

Highlights of the GRASS 6.4.0 stable:

Since the 6.3.0 release in April 2008 almost 3000 source code modifications have been made to the 6.4.0 release branch, paving the way for this stable release. Much work was dedicated to the new graphical user interface and to the winGRASS port.
