On 31. July 2010 the current  Quantum GIS development version 1.5 "Tethys" was released. Binary and source code packages are available at: http://download.qgis.org

This release includes new features and many bug fixes to improve stability over previous releases. A detailed list is provided below or can be run down at the official QGIS visual changelog.

Along with the release of QGIS 1.5.0, the QGIS Community Team updated the QGIS Users' Guide to version 1.5 as well. The guide is available at: http://www.qgis.org/en/documentation/manuals.html

QGIS is a completely volunteer driven project, and is the work of a dedicated team of developers, documenters and supporters. We extend our thanks and gratitude for the many, many hours people have contributed to make this release happen.

• There is a new angle measuring tool that allows you to interactively measure angles against the map backdrop.

• Allow editing of invalid geometry in node tool

• Add point displacement renderer plugin - allows points to be shifted to avoid colliding with other points
• Allow saving vector layers as ogr vector files
• Text and form annotation tools are now in gui and app
• Center map if user clicks into the map
• New plugin for carrying out spatial selections
• Query option added to layer menu to subset vector layers
• Load/save queries created in the query builder.
• Manual adding of categories in symbology-ng.
