(6/2009) On behalf of and together with Linfiniti Consulting from Johannesburg an educational resource around QGIS was build. The project was sponsored by the Chief Directorate: Spatial Planning & Information, Department of Land Affairs, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Otto Dassau assisted Linfiniti Consulting as a principal author with the documentation. The resource also includes screencasts and a custom windows installer for QGIS 1.0 with rebranded splash screen etc. A short sampler of the first section Introduction to GIS is available on youtube. One of the conditions of the contract was that all content should be available under an open license (GNU Free Documentation License (FDL) for documentation and Creative Commons 3.0 Share Alike License (CC-SA) for screencasts).

Currently we are working on the the import of the resources into the QGIS documentation, and move the videos onto the official QGIS web site, as well as pdf versions. This will allow anybody to download and extend the project data according to the used licenses.
